The theme was peace

As we all are aware, our region finds itself at war once again. We are relieved to be able to tell you that our staff are still okay, and our programs are all still running and working harder than ever. That being said, members of our team, regional partners, and communities we serve are scared, not knowing what the coming days will look like for them.

I've previously written here about the summer camps we host every summer. But I don't think I ever mentioned that we have a yearly theme around which we build all the lessons and crafts. This year, the theme was peace.

I don't know about you, but we believe that teaching hundreds of children and youth about the value and power of peace is more important than ever in our region. Even in this time of turmoil, our belief in this does not waver. In times of war and conflict, we see its value all the more. As so much pain is all around us these days, as the war in Israel and Gaza continues, we remain committed to supporting the most vulnerable.

Every child deserves a chance at a brighter future. No matter the challenges, difficulties, or grief that surrounds any moment, our belief in this truth does not waver. In times of both joy and sorrow, we will be here. We will continue working with you and our local team to provide children, families, and refugees with hope, education, and a chance to thrive.

Sometimes, when the world seems darkest and without hope, that's the perfect time to pause and take a deep breath, let hope renew in our hearts, and wait for the sun to rise. Because it always will. Thank you for your ongoing support in these difficult times! Your partnership means so much to us and all whom we serve.

Until next time...

"Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: You don't give up." - Anne Lamont
